We were lucky enough to have a two day workshop with children's illustrator Sam Boughton (link to her work below). She explained her use of medium and how she creates a sense of place within her work, with energy and clarity of the subject.
1. The first workshop involved creating lots of black and white textures for use in illustrations.
2. The second was the focused on colour. I chose the buzz words 'Wild and 'Jungle'
I had used textures in my work before but this workshop gave me time to analyse my own process and way of working. I created this jungle scene during the second workshop utilising as many textures as possible to create a sense of place. This is something I have continued with in new conceptual pieces of work and will look to do for the foreseeable future.
